Politeness Can Take You All The Way To The White House

I received my State of Washington Voters' Pamphlet today.

As I was reading through the blurbs for the various candidates, I noticed an interesting trend, the Democratic candidates are much more polite.
(Yes, I realize that many of the candidates have dropped out by this time, but I wanted to use a fair sample.)

Out of the 8 Democratic Presidential candidates, 3 actually say, Thank you.
Out of the 8 Republican Presidential candidates, 0 say, Thank you.

In addition,

Out of the 8 Democratic Presidential candidates, 2 wrote a salutation and their name.
Out of the 8 Republican Presidential candidates, 0 wrote a salutation and their name.

Out of all 16 Presidential candidates, only one says, Thank You and wrote a salutation and their name.

Can you guess who that is?

Thank you, dear readers for reading this post, even though it isn't funny at all.

Sincerely,

missburrows

UPDATE: If you guessed Barack Obama, you are correct.

my husband, the american studies lecturer first said "cheney". then i gave him the "stop that" look. then he said "the lawyer - edwards" (yes, he said the hyphen).

i have already disagreed with him three times today, that's enough.

i'll go with him.

although i want it to be hillary.

and i disagree! this was hilarious! i wish i'd have rushed home more quickly from dinner for it. but next time, i'd start it with "8 democrats and 8 republicans walk into a bar..."

I hope it's one of the democrats still running, but I kinda hope it's Edwards, just to show that I was backing a polite guy.

And funny or not, it's actually very indicative of what politicians think of their voting public. Very insiteful observation.

I wasn't for him when this all started, but I'm pulling for McCain now.

You're not one of those damn, dirty hippies, are you?

Please don't tell me you're voting for Hillary.

holly: Please let your "American-studies lecturer" husband know that both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are also both lawyers. No, it is not Edwards.

lilac: Sorry, it is not Edwards. (Make sure you register for a absentee ballot my dear!)

groovy: Way to totally ignore my post. 0 republicans said Thank You and 0 republicans added a salutation, therefore MCcain is not a possible answer.

don: Sorry, but "Do you twitter" is not running for president. I know I do not. The only person who cares what I am doing every single of second of the day constantly IMs me anyway.

avery: I just took as shower, so I am dirty no more. You didn't even answer the question!!!!

Someone's mom taught hims manners but I still won't be voting for him. I think it is interesting that you actually looked though your voters pamphlet and made comparisons! Good for you.

sybil: Oh sure, now you guess. After I already gave out the answer.

dapoppins: I hadn't planned on reading the whole thing, but when I saw the different writing styles I was intrigued.
